Ring of Kerry

Boy the joys of rental cars. We picked up this baby to tour Ireland, which is a must if you are traveling the island.

Leaving Killnarey, there are many small towns with ornate architecture.

Note to self - don't let the rain spoil your vacation, your in Ireland.

There was so much to see but our view was limited due to the dark clouds.

Iveragh Peninsula is an unspoilt region that is absolutely beautiful when it's clear - I'll bet:)

Yeah, the rain lifted for a few minutes while passing near this little town.

Rain starting again, but it didn't dampen our spirits - green everywhere.

There are many random large stones which serve as "markers' for the area.

What made this trip spatular is the diverse landscapes.

This area has been the inspiration of poets and writers because of its magnificient coastal scenery and rugged countryside.

Of Course, one of my favorite movies is Darby O'Gill and the Little People. I wondered if I could find King Brian of Knocknasheegaat.

The sheep backs are spray painted all sorts of colors from red, blue, green, and pink. We were told this is the way the sheepowners color code their flocks or that they discovered paintball. Their coloring on their fluffy coats makes them look like delicious cotton candy.

The random ruins were fun to look at and explore. There are so many, not all have a plaque to tell their history. Instead, you get a local Irishman who is more and happy to tell you about the history of the area.

While the ancient sights are fascinating and the history is educational, the best reason to come here is the eternal beauty of the Irish landscape.
