Drum Tower Xian, China

Unlike the Bell Tower, the Drum Tower is not located in the middle of a busy intersection, and you do not need to use an underground passage to enter it. The Drum Tower got its name from the huge drum located within the building. In contrast to the Bell Tower, where the bell was stricken at dawn, the drum was beat at sunset to indicate the end of the day. On entering the tunnel we were greeted by ancient warriors; some guarded their posts while others reposed. Walking the many steps up the wall that encompassed the city, we were able to see a panoramic view. Many of these pictures were taken from the path on top of the wall to show some of the ornate buildings and homes.
