Warwick Castle

Where can you immerse yourself in a thousand years of jaw-dropping history – come rain or shine? Where ancient myths and spell-binding tales set your imagination alight, and your hair on end. Where princesses are pampered and maidens are wooed, as winners become true heroes and losers are confined to dark, dank dungeons to be forgotten for eternity. It could only be Warwick Castle.

We dared to test our fate.
Some of us ventured better than others.

We knew the boys needed some more training.

And we didn't see a new king in our realms to save us.

We entered through the castle to be greeted by the Queen.

The boys spirits were lifted as they were chosen to begin knight training.

King Henry and his many wives. Besides his six marriages, Henry VIII is known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Catholic Church. We learned the importance of royalty.

This part of the castle is how to become a knight and fight for the king. A museum walked us through becoming a squire, the making of weapons, and the youth in training.

The men aren't the only ones really busy. The women have a huge part in the preparation of the men for battle. They kept the men fed, medicated and were responsible for sewing the clothing and banners for battle.

A knight showing the boys how to handle a sword for combat and the importance of maintenance.

Preparing for battle is fine and dandy but you are not worthy unless you can beat your mom in an arm wrestling match!

Well, when you have to go you have to go.

Let the celebration begin!! One must eat and drink well before a long journey.

Throughout many parts of the castle, you could find sorcery, swords and swashbuckling adventures.

On our way to the top, there were alot of symbols regarding Christianity
throughout the castle.

Climbing many, many stairs to the top to over look Warwick town.

The river, which runs below the castle on the east side, has eroded the rock the castle stands on, forming a cliff. The river and cliff form natural defenses.

An active catapult. They launched a fire ball about 50 yards into the air.

The castle from the bridge.

We were able to watch an eagle and falcon fly. I think the eagle decided to take a little break before flying back to camp.

At this point, we came inside to get snacks to get out of the pouring rain. Then, Connor lost one of his bottom teeth at this table while drinking apple and current juice.
