Killarney, Ireland

Traveled to the town of Killarney Kerry which is full of irish charm.

Saint Anthony Novena
St. Anthony of Padua is one of the most popular Franciscan saints.
"When a crystal is touched or struck by the rays of the sun, it gives forth brilliant sparks of light. When the man of faith is touched by the light of God's grace, he too must give forth sparks of light in his good words and deeds, and so bring God's light to others." (Saint Anthony, Sermon 274).

Saint Patrick used the shamrock as a symbol to explain the Holy Trinity to Unbelievers. The shamrock is a three leaf clover and a known symbol of Ireland placed on many buildings, especially churches.

At a little shop in town, Evan wanted to take a picture of the Leprechaun's dog.

O' my, there are many O' names in Ireland. Plenty of O'Connors, O'Grady's to be o'er whelmed.

No O' name but this ice cream store is Murphy's, the most popular ice cream in Kerry. They had very unusual flavors such as Sea Salt and Bailey's Irish Cream on a honey comb.

I didn't take too many pictures of these but the police cars and ambulances have the most atrocious colors and sounds. This picture is not too bad but many emergancy cars had zebra or block stripes in florescent orange, green, blue and yellows.

Walking down the beautiful streets of Killarney is a great way to introduce yourself and become familiar with the local area in this adorable town.

The town has many narrow lanes which are sometimes hard to navigate but bring about opportunities to stumble upon new adventures. Many restaurants and craft shops are hidden down these lanes.

There are some 10,000 archaeological sites in Kerry telling the story of human habitation for every period over the past 9,000 years and we are just walking around a few hundred year old buildings.

It has charming architecture and style reminiscent of the late ninteenth century. There has been a strong competitive streak among shop keepers to put on an attractive face, with old style signs, window boxes, and stained-glass doors.

I don't know if you noticed or not....but rain. Lots and lots of intermittent rain.

As many churches built in a town, there are twice as many pubs! We are in search of the best irish stew and potato pie.
