Walking to the local park - China

A nice little jaunt to the local Chinese park in Beijing. I wondered what we would see..?

A local artist was practicing his Chinese characters on the pavement using water. He was very precise in his movements. It almost appeared like a dance. What is not captured well in the pictures are many people all over the park practicing Tia Chie and slapping their arms and legs to increase the circulation.

Believe this or not but those are all grandmothers. They are playing a game like "hacky sack" called footbag. The footbag originated in ancient China. Imperial Chinese guards stayed alert during their overnight duty periods by kicking a small round sack stuffed with hair.

You can't have an adventure without music and singing. We followed several voices to people practicing their musical scales.

Here's the happy family strolling around the frozen lake.

A cold Hailey walking close to the pavilion.

Three blind mice. Three blind mice. See how they don't listen to their mom. Dad let's them walk across. They bang and jump to crack the ice. Three blind mice.

The center gazebo

As a good mother should, I have the kids read the park rules stating "Life Danger".

In the abyss of cold, my honey keeps me warm by his side.
