Terracotta Warriors

Entering the museum to the infamous Terracotta Warriors.

Chinese characters written on wooden planks.

Because of their exceptional technical and artistic qualities, the terracotta warriors and horses, and the funerary carts in bronze are major works in the history of Chinese sculpture prior to the reign of the Han dynasty.

All pottery warriors and horses were made using local clay, then baked in the kiln. After firing the figures were completed with painted detail.

The statues of the infantry soldiers range between 5 foot 8 inches and 6 foot 2 inches; the commanders are 6 and half feet tall. The lower half of the kiln-fired ceramic bodies were made of solid terracotta clay, the upper half hollow.

Getting our first glance of the first of the three pits.

The Terracotta Warriors represent the emperor's ability to control the resources in the newly unified China.

These statues were made in attempt to recreate that empire in his afterlife.

A beautifully carved junk (Chinese boat) made out of jade.

Logan sizing himself up against the warriors. Nice to know there were miniature statues around.

This face may seem innocent but he is 100% hellion. One parent guided three children (Hailey, Logan and Connor) the other parent continuously accompanied Evan.
