The hole is contained in a fanced off Park (which is like the rest of the scrubland but with a fence around it and a couple of shelters - and there are public toilets). There is an attendant at the entrance but no entry charge for the park. There are a line of date trees leading you to the sinkhole entrance. In the middle of the park the sink hole is sourrounded by a low wall.
This sinkhole was formed naturally when the ground over unstable layers collapsed on itself. There is an underwater tunnel leading to the sea 500 metres away, leading to a mixing of fresh and sea water in the hole. Pretty cool!
Geologists say that this site was created when limestone collapsed but the locals say that a piece of the moon fell to the earth and made this hole.
This spot was a real treat and the kids are already begging to go back and take a lunch.
