After many years of talking about it, I took the plunge. I went to a weekend long yoga retreat. Funny, I'm all the way in the middle east and our instructor was from California. Our teacher emphasized mindfulness, breath and alignment; strengthening and moving from core. She taught ancient yogic teachings and elements of the Ashtanga, Iyengar, Anusara and Yin Yoga

traditions, Buddhism, and other wisdom traditions. She said this was the natural state of calm....I giggled inside and thought "I have four children, I never reach a full state of calm." Plus, after 5 hours of holding different positions my muscles weren't calm either, they emphasized soreness!!!
